Gaurav Seth is Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Piersight Space (Techstars 2023); an Indian space tech startup that focuses on developing specialized Synthetic Aperture Radar systems for persistent Earth observation. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (“IIST”). He then worked at the Indian Space Research Organization (“ISRO”) for nine years, where he played a critical role in the design and execution of various interplanetary and Earth observation missions.

What does your company do, and why is it important?

At PierSight Space, we are building the world's first satellite constellation using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) in a CubeSat form factor. Our goal is to create a global database of all active vessels across the world's oceans, labeled in human language for easy queries and historical analysis.

What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs who are just starting their journey?

1) Your pitch and business should be very clear without any obfuscation.

2) Always try to portray the end vision.

3) Institutional investors should be preferred over strategic investors.

What has been your proudest moment or biggest triumph in your entrepreneurial journey?

We raised the largest seed round in the Indian SpaceTech industry.

Why did you want to do an accelerator, and why did you choose Techstars?

1) To learn the best practices to run a company.

2) Be part of a cohort with several other founders facing the same issues as you.

What was the most memorable experience from your Techstars program?

The Techstars Space Accelerator was a traveling program where we visited LA, Colorado, and DC.
